Be Still

March 11, 2010

Be still
Oh feathered clutch now stifled
That shakes, a cold dog heart
Who’s whispered words from wooden doors cracked
Speak tongue of crimes and fire

Be still
Oh weathered knobby digits
Blood and bone and tragedy
That carry with you burdens soft and hard alike
Rough and stern and bold

Be still
Oh youthful cacophony aflame
Portholes starboard and aft
In swollen despair make haste and toil
Secrets kept and tarnished never

I beg of you
Be still
Be still

It is not often that poetry touches me, but, “be still”, left a mark. Well done
